The rules, stated plainly

Initial corpus vs monthly allowance: Your first service period covers up to 10 essays from your existing archive. Every period after that carries the same allowance of 10 essays. The allowance is per period, never a pooled total, including on prepaid six- and twelve-month packages.
Overage: Essays submitted beyond the 10 in a period are queued for the next period at no extra charge. Nothing is billed automatically for overage, and nothing beyond the allowance is reviewed inside the current period.
Rollover: Unused essay slots do not roll over. An allowance that goes unused at the end of a period expires with that period.
Response timing: We reply to onboarding and support email within one business day. A submitted essay is returned optimized within five business days of submission. The included revision round is returned within three business days of your request. Each period includes 1 revision round.
Ownership: You own your essays, the optimized versions, and every recommendation we produce. OftenCited keeps no license over your work beyond what is needed to deliver the service.
Cancellation: Monthly Starter recurs until cancelled with 30 days’ notice; service continues through the period you have already paid for. Prepaid six- and twelve-month packages do not auto-renew and are non-refundable once work begins, except as required by law or agreed in writing.
Support: One address for everything: hello@oftencited.com. Billing, invoices, and cancellation are self-serve in the Stripe customer portal linked from your dashboard.

The arithmetic, worked

What one outcome is worth.

A consultant whose average engagement is $40,000 pays roughly $25,700 for a first year on Authority including the Foundation. One inbound engagement covers it 1.6 times. Two clear the 3x bar. A physician on Presence (about $14,900 all-in, year one) needs three to five cash-pay patients or one advisory seat. A founder needs one enterprise deal, one accelerated round conversation, or one senior hire who arrived already convinced. We will do this math with your numbers on the call, and if it doesn't clear 3x we will tell you not to buy.

FAQ

Why is there a one-time foundation fee?

Because the expensive parts happen once: the claim map, the voice model, the site, the baseline. Amortizing them into the monthly fee would just hide them and lock you in. We'd rather charge for them once, visibly, and let the monthly price stay honest.

What does cancellation look like?

Thirty days' notice, no termination fee. The domain, site, essays, and list are already yours, so offboarding is handing over credentials and an export, which takes us under an hour.

Do you offer à la carte?

Yes, from a $700/month minimum, though the bundles are priced 31 to 42% below the same units bought separately, and we will say so to your face. Browse the catalog.

What's not included?

Paid advertising, follower-count promises, and anything that requires pretending to be you in real time. We publish your thinking; we don't impersonate your presence.
